Levi, known for winter tourism, will make its visitors chase gold instead of snow this time. The tourism center announced that it will give a gold bar worth 23,000 euros to the winner of the treasure hunt it organized.
Lapland in Finland, known for its Santa Claus house and the enchanting world of Narnia, is on the agenda with a secret gold hunt that will last throughout the summer for tourists.
Tourists visiting Lapland this summer will have the chance to search for a hidden gold bar worth $23,300 as part of a new tourism campaign.
The contest, known as the Midnight Sun Hunt, begins on June 18 in Levi, one of Finland's best-known ski resorts.
CLUES WILL BE GIVEN
Participants can register at the Levi Visitor Center and receive their first clue.
From there, treasure hunters will follow a clue trail covering local landmarks, walking routes, and tourist sites while searching for the prize.
The organizers say the gold bar can be found at any stage of the competition and additional clues will be published throughout the summer to help determine its location.
The final clue is planned to be announced on August 22.
The hunt is designed to showcase Lapland during the famous midnight sun period, when daylight lasts every hour of the day in the summer months.
Visit Levi CEO Satu Pesonen said, "Levi is known above all for its winter, but the northern summer season is still undiscovered by many".
