Tourist Crowds in the Stone Streets of Old Datça
Old Datça, one of Muğla's popular tourism destinations, was flooded with local and foreign visitors over the weekend.
The region, known for its historic stone houses, streets adorned with bougainvillea, and peaceful atmosphere, experienced one of the busiest days of the summer season. This year, Old Datça is also among Turkey's candidates in the United Nations World Tourism Organization's “Best Tourism Village Program 2026.”
During one of the busiest periods of the summer season, Old Datça, the historic neighborhood of Datça, was flooded with visitors over the weekend. From the early morning hours, local and foreign tourists arriving in the area enjoyed walking through the stone streets and appreciating the historic texture.
Narrow streets surrounded by bougainvillea, art workshops, boutique businesses, and shops selling local products attracted intense interest throughout the day. Visitors, who had difficulty finding seats in cafes, immortalized Old Datça’s unique atmosphere by taking plenty of photos.
Business owners noted that the weekend crowd was one of the busiest days of the season and stated that the activity positively contributed to the district's economy.
Standing out with its preserved natural and historical structure, Old Datça continues to attract visitors not only with sea tourism but also with culture and gastronomy tourism. The region, which also draws attention internationally, is among the candidate destinations representing Turkey in the United Nations World Tourism Organization's “Best Tourism Village Program 2026.”
The visitors who filled the streets throughout the weekend once again demonstrated that Old Datça’s peaceful atmosphere and historic texture make the region an indispensable destination even on the hottest days of summer.
