Heat warning from the Ministry of Health!

The Ministry of Health warned citizens against the excessive heat increasing its effect across the country. Experts stated that daily water consumption should be 35 milliliters per kilogram to prevent increased fluid and mineral loss.

With the arrival of summer, rising air temperatures and increasing humidity directly challenge the human body. The metabolism, trying to adapt to the increase in body temperature, rapidly loses fluid through excessive sweating. The Ministry reminded that these losses can trigger many serious health problems ranging from dizziness to nausea, calling on risk groups to be cautious.

THE DANGER INCREASES FOR RISK GROUPS

Chronic patients and individuals over the age of 65 are among the biggest victims of hot weather. Pregnant women and small children are also in the high-risk group.

Workers who have to work outdoors are directly at risk. Experts want individuals in these groups to act much more cautiously during the day. Wearing thin and light-colored clothes largely reduces the adverse effects of heat. Those who start showing symptoms should apply to the nearest health institution without delay.

DON’T WAIT TO BE THIRSTY TO DRINK WATER

Having a healthy summer period entirely depends on regular fluid intake. An adult's daily water requirement reaches on average 2.5 to 3 liters.

Personal water needs vary according to body weight. Drinking 35 milliliters of water per kilogram is vital. Drinking tea or coffee to replace fluid lost by sweating is not considered the right choice. The Ministry recommends consuming ayran and freshly squeezed fruit juices instead of caffeinated drinks.

AVOID FRIED FOODS AND PASTRIES

Nutrition experts point to preferring light foods during the summer months. Starting the day with low-fat cheese and olives accompanied by fresh vegetables does not tire the body.

Meats cooked by grilling or boiling instead of heavy fried foods and syrupy desserts facilitate digestion. Dietitians recommend adding fiber-rich foods such as whole wheat bread and oats to meals. Meeting the need for sweets with ice cream or fruit options instead of heavy pastries protects the body.

FOOD SOLD IN THE OPEN CAN CAUSE POISONING

Hot weather creates a ground for the rapid spread of foodborne infections. Authorities strictly warned citizens not to consume street food.

Perishable foods like meat and fish create a major danger if not stored under appropriate temperature conditions. The risk of spoilage in dairy products also increases due to heat. To protect from diseases, hygiene rules must be strictly followed during the preparation and cooking of foods.
