The Locomotive of Muğla Tourism is England! 1,074,547 Tourists Arrived in the First 6 Months

While 469,781 visitors entered Muğla, one of Turkey's most important tourism destinations, in June 2026, the number of tourists visiting Muğla in the first half of the year reached 1,074,547.

Of the 469,781 visitors who came to Muğla in June, 429,355 were foreign tourists and 40,426 were Turkish citizens. Thus, the share of foreign tourists among the total visitors was realized as 91.4%.

Britons are again far ahead in the first place

The country that sent the most tourists to Muğla in June was England with 173,142 people. This figure revealed that about 4 out of every 10 foreign tourists coming to the city were British.

Russian Federation: 71,470 people

Poland: 51,438 people

Germany: 28,442 people

Ukraine: 10,129 people

Netherlands: 9,154 people

Ireland: 5,367 people

Italy: 4,579 people followed.

England became the largest market for Muğla tourism. It was observed that Russia and Poland are among the rapidly growing markets in recent years.

Tourists again preferred air travel

The majority of tourists who came to Muğla in June preferred air travel.

The busiest entry was realized at Dalaman Airport with 113,941 people, while 59,127 people entered through Milas-Bodrum Airport.

Dalaman Airport's load is carried by British tourists

According to the data from January to June, the largest market of Dalaman Airport was again England.

Among the tourists using Dalaman Airport;

England: 367,521

Russian Federation: 60,155

Germany: 36,630

Poland: 24,059 ranked among the top.

Poland stands out at Milas-Bodrum Airport

591,187 people entered through Milas-Bodrum Airport in the first six months of the year.

The countries sending the most tourists are;

England: 78,938

Poland: 57,447

Russian Federation: 50,421

Germany: 16,726 respectively.

Marmaris and Bodrum stood out in sea tourism

Activity at Muğla's maritime border gates also attracted attention.

England was the country sending the most tourists to Marmaris Port, followed by Germany, Poland, and France.

At Bodrum Port, Poland took the first place. England, Germany, and France were other countries with the most entries.

At Mantarburnu Port, Poland ranked first, with Germany, England, and the Netherlands standing out.

At Fethiye Port, England ranked first, while the United States, Germany, and the Russian Federation attracted attention.

At Göcek Port, the most tourists came from the United States, with the Philippines and England in the top three.

At Datça Port, the United States was in the first place, followed by England and Germany.

At Turgutreis Port, Poland took the first place, while England and Germany were in second and third places.

At Yalıkavak Port, England, Italy, and France stood out, whereas at Bozburun Port, the United States, England, and Israel were the top three countries. At Güllük Port, New Zealand, Australia, and England were recorded as the countries sending the most tourists.

Tourism revenue in Turkey declined

On the other hand, according to the second quarter data of 2026 announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Turkey's tourism revenue decreased by 2.6% compared to the same period last year, falling to 15 billion 865 million dollars.

The number of visitors departing from Turkey in the April-June period also dropped by 5.1% to 15 million 581 thousand.

The average daily expenditure of visitors was 113 dollars, while the average daily expenditure of Turkish citizens living abroad was 79 dollars.

Within tourism revenues, the largest share was held by package tours with 30.2%, food and beverage expenditures with 21%, international transportation with 12.4%, and accommodation with 11.3%.

Although there was a limited decline in the number of visitors and tourism revenues across Turkey, Muğla's strong performance, especially in the England, Russia, and Poland markets, stood out.
