Cruise prosperity in Marmaris: Two giant ships brought thousands of tourists in two days
Marmaris, one of Muğla's popular tourism centers, continues to experience busy days in cruise tourism.
Two giant cruise ships anchored at Marmaris Port for two consecutive days. The first cruise of the week, the Malta-flagged Marella Discovery, arrived from Patmos Island, Greece, on Monday morning and anchored at Marmaris Port. The 264-meter-long ship hosted 1,750 passengers, mostly British, and 742 crew members.
After customs procedures, the tourists disembarking from the ship explored Marmaris's historic Kaleiçi streets, the Covered Bazaar, and the marina area, shopping along the way. Some visitors preferred to discover different tourist spots in the district with day tours. Marella Discovery departed in the evening for its next stop, Alanya Port.
The cruise activity continued on Tuesday as well. The Panama-flagged MSC Divina came from Aydın's Kuşadası Port and anchored at Marmaris Port. The approximately 333-meter-long giant cruise ship brought 4,121 tourists to Marmaris.
After customs procedures, tourists visited historical and touristic areas, getting the chance to closely experience Marmaris's natural and cultural beauties. It was learned that the MSC Divina ship will head to Italy's Naples Port this evening.
With two cruise ships docking in Marmaris within two days, the district center, bazaar area, and coastal strip experienced heavy crowds, and tradesmen were pleased with the visitor turnout. Cruise tourism in Marmaris, which is entering its busiest period of the summer season, is expected to continue growing in the coming days.
