Joint brainstorming meetings have started for Marmaris tourism

Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü initiated regular consultation meetings with non-governmental organizations and professional chambers. In the first meeting held with different association and chamber representatives every week, the problems of the tourism sector, solution proposals, and projects for the future of the district were evaluated. Mayor Ünlü, who addressed the current state of tourism in Marmaris together with sector representatives, stated that they wanted to listen to the city from the perspective of various stakeholders while sharing the municipality's works. At the first meeting, the emphasis was on joint brainstorming.

The problems of Marmaris tourism were discussed at the first meeting

The first agenda of the regular consultation meetings initiated by Marmaris Municipality was tourism. The meeting covered the district’s tourism potential, sector challenges, service quality, transportation, urban order, and future period projects. Mayor Acar Ünlü stated that the meetings would not be limited to exchanging views only but that the municipality's efforts would also be shared with relevant stakeholders.

The meeting with tourism representatives included GETOB President Cengiz Aygün, Marmaris Young Businessmen Association President Caner Torunoğulları, Muğla Individual Tourism Carriers Association President Adem Çatalkaya, Marmaris Tourism Association President Levent Esin, and Ahmet Çolak on behalf of the Marmaris Skal Association. Deputy Mayor Sedat Kırt and Council Member Müjgan Gürgan also attended the meeting.

Acar Ünlü: We want to evaluate Marmaris through your eyes

After the meeting, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü stated that they wanted to address the district's issues with joint intelligence. Ünlü said, “We will continue these meetings with our various associations and professional groups. Our aim is to discuss Marmaris, share the works we have done as a municipality, and evaluate our city through your perspective.”

The Mayor emphasized that they focused not only on the current problems of Marmaris but also on future planning needs. Ünlü said, “We are discussing Marmaris' present and future together and talking about what we can do with joint intellect.”

Seeking joint solutions from tourism to urban order

Evaluations that started under the tourism heading during the meeting extended to many topics directly affecting the urban life of Marmaris. The intensity experienced during the tourism season, transportation, business expectations, service standards, and quality of life were among the prominent topics of the meeting.

Mayor Acar Ünlü drew attention to the importance of acting together for Marmaris' future, saying, “We believe that the most important factor in carrying Marmaris to a stronger future is to think and act together. I thank all association representatives who contributed with their opinions and suggestions by participating in our meeting.”

Consultation meetings will continue weekly

Marmaris Municipality will continue to meet with non-governmental organizations and professional chambers from different sectors in the coming process. In the weekly meetings, the district’s priority issues, municipal services, field demands, and solution proposals will be discussed.

The municipal administration aims both to strengthen inter-institutional communication and to ensure wider participation in decision-making processes through these meetings. The meeting series, which started with tourism, is expected to create a more comprehensive roadmap addressing Marmaris' economic, social, and urban needs.
