Emotional farewell in Fethiye: 'We bid farewell to our family home to return one day'
In the meeting held at the CHP Fethiye District Presidency building, party members who resigned from their party and will join the New Party founded by Özgür Özel gathered. Speaking at the event with high attendance, former CHP Fethiye District President Mustafa Koyuncu and dismissed former CHP Muğla Provincial President Nail Kızıl sent the message, 'We bid farewell to our family home to return one day.'
The party members who resigned from the Republican People's Party (CHP) in Fethiye and will join the New Party founded by Özgür Özel gathered at a meeting held at the CHP Fethiye District Presidency building. Emotional moments were experienced during the program with intense participation, as names who served long years under the CHP umbrella both said farewell to their party and shared their new political roadmaps with the public. Attending the meeting were former Fethiye District President Mustafa Koyuncu, who resigned from CHP, as well as former Muğla Provincial President Nail Kızıl, dismissed by the Central Executive Board decision chaired by CHP General President Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, along with many party members.

Mustafa Koyuncu: "We stood by the will of the ballot box"
Starting his speech with an emphasis on democracy, Mustafa Koyuncu stated they always defended the will of the elected, saying, "We always said we would stand by the will of the ballot box. We stand behind the elected. We never supported the current Mutlancı administration. We declared this with your support from day one and conducted marches accordingly."
Expressing that he has been involved in politics under the CHP umbrella for over 30 years, Koyuncu continued his speech with emotional moments. Koyuncu said, "In 1994, I joined the Republican People's Party following the political views of my late father Vedat Koyuncu and following Atatürk's path. I served as a Municipal Council Member, vice president responsible for organization, and with your support I served as district president. Together with the administration, we did our best. For some it was sufficient, for others insufficient. For some, it was right; for others, it was wrong. But we fought as much as our strength and breath allowed. Today is a very difficult day for me as well. I am resigning because we could not overcome certain issues within the party I belong to. May God bless our outcome."

Nail Kızıl: "Today we experience a farewell"
Experiencing emotional moments in his speech, Nail Kızıl noted that the atmosphere in the hall is not only felt in Fethiye but also in many districts of Muğla, stating, "I can see how teary my president's eyes are. We were in Bodrum on Saturday and experienced the same feelings there. Today we are in Fethiye; tomorrow we will be in other districts. We call it a ceremony but actually, it is a farewell."
Emphasizing that CHP is not just a political party for them, Nail Kızıl said, "This is our family home. We all grew up within this party. We experienced our good and bad days here. It is not easy. But there are greater values we must protect. We must protect the Republic and Atatürk's values. We bid farewell to our family home to return one day."
"There is a Republic that we must save"
Stating that the New Party must organize quickly, Kızıl said that all party members have important responsibilities, adding, "We must now put aside anger and resentment. Because there is a Republic we must save. Our new party must organize rapidly. Temporary administrations will be appointed, followed by district and provincial congresses, then the convention will take place. Six months after the convention, we will gain the right to enter elections."
"Muğla will lead again"
Kızıl expressed that the Muğla organization will play a leading role in the new process as it did in the past, and thanked for the strong participation in Fethiye, saying, "Muğla took the lead today as it did in the past. I believe we will be one of the first provinces to complete the organization of our new party. The interest you showed here in this hot weather is the biggest indicator of this. Our path is long and arduous but together we will overcome it."
At the meeting held at the CHP Fethiye District Presidency building, a large crowd gathered in and around the hall and building. Many party members who have served under the CHP umbrella for many years expressed that after their resignations, they will continue their struggle under the New Party established by Özgür Özel. The emotional meeting ended with applause and messages of unity.
