Cumhur Çoban also resigned from CHP
Cumhur Çoban, who served as the Mayor of Bayır and was Deputy Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality for two terms, also announced his resignation from CHP.
The wave of resignations that started in Muğla CHP after Özgür Özel and his colleagues left CHP to establish the New Party continues. Following the announcements of separation decisions by names who have held various positions in the party for many years during the day, Cumhur Çoban, who served as Mayor of Bayır and Deputy Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality for two terms, also announced that he has resigned from CHP.
One of the well-known names in Muğla politics, Cumhur Çoban declared his decision with a written statement shared with the public. Stating that he has been involved in politics under the CHP umbrella for many years, Çoban expressed that he felt honored to serve as mayor and deputy mayor of the metropolitan municipality.
In his statement, Çoban included the following expressions:
“From today, I resign from the Republican People's Party, to which I have devoted my heart for years and under whose flag I had the honor and pride of serving as mayor and deputy mayor of the metropolitan municipality. From now on, I announce to the public that I will work in the New Party under the leadership of Özgür Özel with all my knowledge, energy, and resources for my country and my nation.”
With the resignation of Cumhur Çoban, another departure was added to those occurring in Muğla CHP within the day. After the successive resignations, it remains a matter of curiosity which roles the departing names will take in the New Party and how the new political structuring in Muğla will shape.
