Diagoras' Pyramid Tomb Gains a New Look with Night Lighting
Diagoras' Pyramid Tomb, located in the Turgut Neighborhood of Muğla's Marmaris district and known as the only pyramid-roofed monumental tomb in Turkey that has survived to the present day, has become ready to welcome visitors at night following the completion of lighting works.
With the support of the Marmaris Chamber of Commerce, and with the permission of the Muğla Regional Board for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and supervision of the Marmaris Museum Directorate, protection and environment arrangement works have been carried out, making the historic structure visible with night lighting.
Within the scope of the works, walking routes were created around the tomb, viewing areas were arranged, and protection measures were increased. The arrangements aimed to enable visitors to tour the historic structure more safely and comfortably.
Diagoras' Pyramid Tomb, which has stood for centuries and reached the present day, attracts attention with its impressive appearance after sunset thanks to the new lighting system. The historic structure continues to be among the important heritages of Marmaris with a silhouette integrated with the natural beauties of Turgut and its cultural value.
As part of the works carried out to preserve historical and cultural values and pass them on to future generations, thanks were extended to the Marmaris Museum Directorate, Marmaris Forest Management Directorate, scientific consultant Associate Professor Dr. Mehmet Gürbüzer, and the project team for their contributions.
