CHP Fethiye District President Koyuncu: 'We are resigning from our duty tomorrow'

CHP Fethiye District President Mustafa Koyuncu made statements about the agenda at the press conference he held. Koyuncu held the postponed press conference due to the İnlice fire last week, expressing his wishes for a speedy recovery to the citizens affected by the fire and commenting on the political process.

Stating that they will stand by the citizens affected by the fire in İnlice Neighborhood, Koyuncu said, "Unfortunate events occurred due to the fire starting in Gökçeovacık Neighborhood and reaching İnlice Neighborhood. We extend our wishes for recovery to İnlice Neighborhood and all Fethiye residents. We will always stand by our citizens who were harmed. We will make contacts in the region as soon as possible. We will provide all possible support together with our mayors and party members," he said. Koyuncu also congratulated the National Women's Volleyball Team, who became champions by defeating Brazil 3-1 in the 2026 FIVB Nations League, saying, "We congratulate the Sultan of the Net for making our country proud once again."

"We will resign from our duty tomorrow at 16:00"

Addressing the political developments in Turkey's agenda, Koyuncu announced that the CHP Fethiye District Administration has decided to resign from their duties. Koyuncu stated, "We will hold our board meeting tonight for the last time. Unless a serious decision contrary to this is made, we will resign from our duties at the CHP Fethiye District Presidency tomorrow at 16:00 and submit our resignations. We also invite the party members who want to be with us during this process to our district presidency at 16:00 tomorrow," he said.

"We are ready if assigned duties in the new party"

Commenting on the newly established party, Koyuncu stated that no official appointment has been made yet in Muğla and Fethiye, saying, "No appointment has been made yet related to the structuring of the new party in Muğla and Fethiye. It is currently unclear who will be authorized. However, we have previously stated that we would gladly take part in organizing the new party if assigned a role."

Speaking about the process within CHP, Koyuncu claimed that they have not been contacted by the teams assigned at the district and provincial organizations so far, adding that they have been unable to access the party systems for a long time. Koyuncu said, "Our systems have been closed for about a month. We can't register members, resignations can't be processed, and we can't log into the system. We think there is no point in continuing our work under such circumstances. From now on, we will continue to be among the people and active in the field," he said.
