Public Lands in Bodrum Opened for Tourism Investment: Allocation Process Started for 1,200-Bed Hotel Project
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced public lands opened for tourism investments nationwide within the scope of the 2026/2 Public Real Estate Allocation Announcement. Two important investment areas located in Bodrum district of Muğla were also included in the allocation program. The most notable project is planned as a tourism facility with approximately 1,200 beds in Kızılağaç Neighborhood.
Two investment areas opened for allocation in Bodrum
Within the scope of the announcement published by the Ministry, a total of 10 Treasury and Provincial Special Administration properties located in Antalya, Muğla, Balıkesir, Batman, and Ardahan were offered for allocation to local and foreign investors.
It was noted that the two areas opened for allocation in Muğla are both located in Bodrum. Thus, the official process for realizing new accommodation investments in the district has begun.
Tourism facility with a capacity of 1,200 beds planned
The largest investment area within the allocation is located in Kızılağaç Neighborhood of Bodrum, within the boundaries of Yalıçiftliği Tourism Center.
According to the Ministry's plan, a 5-star hotel or holiday village with approximately 1,200 bed capacity along with day-use facilities can be constructed in this area. The project is aimed to make a significant contribution to Bodrum's accommodation capacity.
Second investment in Göl Neighborhood
The second investment area in Muğla is located in Göl Neighborhood, within the Yalıkavak-Gündoğan-Göltürkbükü Tourism Center.
In this region, the construction of a private accommodation facility with approximately 160 beds is envisaged. The investment aims to support the tourism market targeted at especially the upper-income group.
Applications will start on July 1
Allocation applications for tourism investments will start on July 1, 2026, and end on July 16, 2026.
Investors can apply separately for each property. The allocation specifications will be available starting July 1, and the specification fee was announced as 50,000 TRY.
The use of public lands may be debated again
The allocation of public lands in Bodrum for new tourism investments is positively evaluated in terms of increasing accommodation capacity, employment, and economic activity; however, it is also expected to bring back topics such as protection of natural areas, the use of coastlines, and the region’s carrying capacity into the agenda. The scope and environmental impacts of projects to be carried out on the allocated areas in the upcoming period will be closely followed by the public.
