Mass Resignation Decision from 264 Former CHP MPs: Notable Names from Muğla on the List

264 former CHP MPs resigned from the party with a joint statement. Former MPs representing Muğla were also among those who announced that they would support the New Party. Details are in our news report.

A mass departure has shaken the political agenda of the Republican People's Party (CHP). A total of 264 former CHP MPs who served in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) during various terms announced their resignation from the party through a joint statement. In the statement, the former MPs declared their support for the New Party—founded by Özgür Özel and his colleagues, whom they argue will protect the historical legacy of the CHP and the core values of the Republic—and stated that they will launch a new political struggle for the future of Turkey. The presence of former MPs who represented Muğla in past terms among the resigning names also drew attention.

264 Former CHP MPs Issue Joint Declaration

The joint statement shared by the former MPs also included evaluations regarding the reasons for changing their political preference. While the declaration emphasized the need to protect the historical legacy of the CHP and the core principles of the Republic, it announced their decision to support the New Party, which they stated represents this understanding.

The joint statement included the following expressions: "With the support of our people, we respectfully announce to the public that we will support the New Party, which will uncompromisingly embrace the historical legacy of the CHP and the core values of the Republic, and that we will work to carry Turkey toward bright tomorrows."

While the statement in question created a wide resonance in political corridors, the roadmap the new political formation will follow in the upcoming period became a subject of curiosity.
