35 shaped balloons from 10 countries colored the skies of Cappadocia

The 7th International Cappadocia Balloon Festival, organized within the scope of the Nevşehir Culture Route Festival, has started. Along with Turkey, 35 different shaped hot air balloons from 10 countries colored the skies of Cappadocia on the first day of the festival, offering a visual feast for visitors.

The event, which started with sunrise at Göreme Airfield, saw hot air balloons in various shapes taking off one after another, and the colorful spectacle formed over the fairy chimneys attracted great attention from local and foreign tourists. As part of the festival, light shows will be held in the evening at Paşabağları Open-Air Museum.

Nevşehir Governor Hüseyin Kök stated that Cappadocia is one of the world's most important hot air balloon destinations and said that the festival contributes significantly to the region's international promotion.

Kök expressed that there are currently 30 licensed businesses, 359 hot air balloons, and 409 pilots, including 57 women, operating in Cappadocia, noting that flights can be conducted on an average of 224 days a year in the region depending on meteorological conditions.

Governor Kök stated that by 2026, 314,187 visitors experienced hot air balloon rides on 111 flight days so far and said that these data reveal Cappadocia's sustainable tourism potential and international appeal.

Kök stated that in the festival held with the participation of 13 companies, 35 specially shaped balloons and 35 pilots will perform show flights in the sky, and said that international participation strengthens BalloonFest Cappadocia's worldwide recognition and brand value every year.
