Muğla Governor Akbıyık: 'One thousand one hundred and twenty people were evacuated to safe areas'
While the teams' intervention to the fire that broke out in the forest area in Milas district of Muğla continues during the night hours, Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık came to the region and received information about the ongoing efforts.
Governor Akbıyık stated that as a precaution, a hotel and a holiday resort were evacuated, and approximately one thousand one hundred and twenty people were transferred to safe areas.
In the forest area in Gürçamlar Neighborhood, Kazıklı-Bozbük vicinity of Milas, the fire that broke out for an unknown reason in the evening hours is still under intensive intervention by the teams.
While the Muğla Regional Forestry Directorate and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department teams intervene in the fire from land, the aerial vehicles supported the operations with sorties during the daytime. With the onset of darkness, the extinguishing efforts continue on land.

Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık, in a statement at the forest fire area in Milas, said that a total of 6 forest fires broke out in Muğla during the day, 5 of which were brought under control, and that the teams were intensively intervening in the Milas fire.
Akbıyık stated that after the fire was reported, AFAD, gendarmerie, police, metropolitan fire department, Milas and Yatağan municipalities, thermal power plant teams, non-governmental organizations and citizens participated in the efforts with a mobilization spirit, especially the Regional Forestry Directorate, and that all interventions were carried out under the coordination of the Regional Forestry Directorate.
Akbıyık noted that during the daytime, the fire was intervened with 12 helicopters and 8 aircraft from the air, and on land there were 11 bulldozers, 70 water tanker trucks, 6 initial intervention vehicles, 29 water tankers, 40 support vehicles, 4 TOMA vehicles belonging to police and gendarmerie, 4 ambulances, and 517 personnel on duty.
Governor Akbıyık stated that as a precaution, a hotel and a holiday resort were evacuated, and approximately one thousand one hundred and twenty people were transferred to safe areas. Akbıyık said that the teams have taken necessary precautions and positioned themselves at critical points, and that the efforts continue without interruption.
Answering a question about the cause of the fire, Akbıyık said that the cause has not yet been determined, that the gendarmerie teams are conducting an investigation into the incident, and that they expect the cause to be identified as soon as possible.
