In the forest fire that started last night in the Milas district of Muğla, with the first light of day, efforts continued from the air and ground, and it was announced that the fire was largely under control.

The fire broke out for an as yet unknown reason in the forest area at the Kazıklı-Bozbük location of Gürçamlar Neighborhood. The flames, rapidly growing due to the effect of the wind, spread over a wide area throughout the night and reached the Kaplankaya region, where luxury villas and hotels are located. Forest workers and fire brigade teams dispatched from Milas and surrounding districts fought intensively against the flames throughout the night. To stop the fire’s advance at critical points, a backburning operation was carried out. With the break of dawn, as aerial vehicles resumed operations, the intervention was intensified both from the air and on the ground.

The intensive extinguishing efforts yielded results. In a statement from the General Directorate of Forestry, it was stated that the fire is largely under control, and efforts to gain full control continue with dedication.
