High Technology and Qualified Employment Target at Muğla Teknopark

At Muğla Teknopark, established in cooperation with Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (MSKÜ) and industry, efforts continue to reach advanced technology, develop products with high added value, ensure capital flow to the region, and increase employment.

The Muğla Teknopark Board of Directors met under the chairmanship of MSKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Turhan Kaçar. While extensively evaluating current initiatives and ongoing projects, planned works for the development of the Teknopark and new investment opportunities were also discussed at the meeting.

Muğla's R&D and Innovation Hub

Muğla Teknopark, which started operations in 2020, quickly became the city's R&D and innovation center. It became an important attraction point for entrepreneurs with legal advantages such as corporate tax exemption, personnel income tax withholding exemption, social security premium support, and VAT exemption.

By 2025, Muğla Teknopark reached 45 firms within its body and achieved 100% occupancy rate. It was stated that entrepreneurs benefited from exemptions totaling 101 million TRY, and that 46 new candidate companies applied to operate in the region only in 2025.

Applications for R&D, software, and design projects in the region are meticulously examined by the Project Evaluation Commission established within the scope of relevant legislation.

Priority Given to Qualified Entrepreneurs

In line with the commercialization-focused vision of Muğla Teknopark Board of Directors, projects without the potential to create economic added value are not approved. Instead, qualified entrepreneurs who have direct export and sales capacity, who will materialize university-industry cooperation, and who will provide internship and employment opportunities for students are preferred.

Thanks to this selective acceptance policy, the total export volume of Teknopark was increased sixfold from the end of 2023 to the end of 2025. In the first six months of 2026, a new fourfold leap in exports was realized.

Sales Reached 288 Million TRY

Total sales amount at Muğla Teknopark also showed a remarkable increase. The total sales amount, which increased fivefold from the end of 2023 to the end of 2025, reached 288 million TRY.

Today, within Muğla Teknopark, high-tech research and production activities are carried out in 17 different sectors including defense industry, aviation, electronics, energy, chemistry, agriculture, and health, primarily software.

By the end of 2025, of the 76 ongoing projects in the region, 16 were realized directly in cooperation with the university, and 9 were implemented jointly with foreign-origin firms.

TÜBİTAK and European Union Supported Projects Are Being Conducted

The capacity of entrepreneurs operating at Muğla Teknopark to access national and international funds is increasing year by year. In 2025, 10 TÜBİTAK-supported projects and 3 European Union supported projects were successfully carried out in the region.

These developments demonstrated that Muğla Teknopark provides important opportunities for entrepreneurs not only locally but also nationally and internationally.

Employment Provided for 239 People

In line with the goal of creating qualified employment, Muğla Teknopark provided job opportunities to a total of 239 people by the end of 2025. The majority of the employed personnel consisted of R&D personnel working in computer, information technology, software, and electrical-electronics fields.

Additionally, improvements were made in social facilities to enable R&D and design personnel to work more efficiently and with higher motivation. In 2025, new meeting rooms, social areas, and modern shared working spaces were put into service.

Free Training Support for Candidate Entrepreneurs

At the incubation center within Muğla Teknopark, comprehensive and free techno-entrepreneurship training programs are organized for candidate entrepreneurs wishing to operate in the region.

Furthermore, with the strategic decision taken by the company management board in 2026, a special budget was allocated to provide material support for projects of teams to be participating in TEKNOFEST competitions. This support aims to encourage youth in R&D and innovation and to contribute to the domestic and national technology ecosystem.
