MSKU Among the Top 5 Teams in Turkey
MSKU students ranked in the top 5 in the EFES-2026 Defense Science and Technologies Project Competition organized in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense, Dokuz Eylül University, and Aegean Army Command.
Students Bora İlkdoğanlar, Can Deniz Öztürk, and Hüseyin Yusuf Hocaoğlu from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (MSKU) Software Engineering Department, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Yılmaz, achieved great success in the EFES-2026 Defense Science and Technologies Project Competition organized in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense, Dokuz Eylül University, and Aegean Army Command.
In the competition held during the EFES-2026 Exercise and Defense Industry Exhibition, which took place from May 14 to 21, 2026, in Seferihisar Doğanbey, the MSKU team ranked 5th among 392 teams from across Turkey.
In the final of the competition, the MSKU team had the opportunity to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, as well as other state protocol members and senior representatives of the Turkish Armed Forces.
Bora İlkdoğanlar received his award from Aegean Army and Garrison Commander General İrfan Özsert, while Can Deniz Öztürk received his award from Dokuz Eylül University Rector Prof. Dr. Bayram Yılmaz.
Meanwhile, the team conducting R&D studies on AI-supported hybrid air defense systems and simulation-based UAV detection and tracking technologies aims to contribute to domestic engineering solutions and is preparing to represent the university in the TEKNOFEST 2026 Steel Dome Air Defense Systems Competition.
