"Agriculture First" movement starts in Fethiye
"Agriculture First" meetings are starting in Fethiye to collectively address the problems of agriculture and propose solutions.
The program starting in September will be held in three-month periods throughout the year. The project executors include Fethiye Local Seeds Association, Fethiye Chamber of Agriculture, Agricultural Credit Cooperative Fethiye Directorate, and Fethiye Journalists Association.
Preparations have begun for the "Agriculture First" meetings aimed at contributing to the future of agriculture in Fethiye. As part of the sustainability-focused project, a different agricultural topic will be addressed at each meeting held every three months.
Experts in the field, producers, public institutions, cooperatives, and sector representatives will come together at the meetings to evaluate the current problems of agriculture, develop solution proposals, and contribute to creating common understanding.
FIRST MEETING IN SEPTEMBER
While the first meeting of the project is planned to be held in September, it was announced that the program details will be shared with the public at the end of August.
SUPPORT VISITS HAVE STARTED
The project executors visited Fethiye District Governor Fatih Akkaya to provide information about the work and to seek support. The delegation also met with Prof. Dr. Mustafa Saatci at Fethiye Faculty of Agriculture to exchange views about the project. During the meeting, evaluations were made on strengthening the scientific infrastructure of the project and increasing inter-institutional cooperation.
The visits were attended by Kenan Karayiğit, President of Fethiye Chamber of Agriculture; Gökçen Sertkaya, President of Fethiye Local Seeds Association; founding President Ebru Oğuzhan Yeter; Caner Sarıdağ, Manager of Agricultural Credit Cooperative Fethiye Branch; and Osman Baykuş, President of Fethiye Journalists Association.
The project executors stated that they aim for the "Agriculture First" meetings to be not only gatherings where problems are discussed but also a solution-oriented and sustainable platform, and invited all parties who value the land, production, and the future of Fethiye to contribute to this process.
