Final Point from the Council of State: RES Project in Bodrum Cancelled

The decision of Muğla 1st Administrative Court to annul the positive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) decision regarding the Wind Power Plant (RES) project planned to be built in Bodrum was also confirmed by the Council of State.

Following the decision, Lawyer Remzi Kazmaz, who followed the case on behalf of the villagers, made a written statement. Kazmaz stated that the decision was not only a legal outcome but also important for the protection of the region's natural structure and living spaces.

In his statement, Kazmaz said, "This case is not just an energy case. This case is a defense of Bodrum’s forests, wetlands, villages, soil, and future."

Emphasizing that they are not against renewable energy investments, Kazmaz stated that projects should be planned with public benefit in mind and in a way that does not harm the environment.

Kazmaz, expressing that the struggle has continued for about 12 years, said they have gone through various legal and administrative stages during the process. He thanked the villagers, local administrators, and supporting individuals and institutions who contributed to the decision.

In his statement, Kazmaz also mentioned the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the company carrying out the project and noted that it is a matter of curiosity how the process will proceed after the judicial decisions, asking, "Will the company that lost three times apply again for the fourth time? Will the Ministry approve this project again?"

Kazmaz concluded his statement with a call for unity to all defenders of life for the protection of the natural values of Bodrum and Muğla.

Meanwhile, with the approval decision of the Council of State, the ruling of Muğla 1st Administrative Court to annul the "EIA Positive" decision has become final.
