Eyyam-ı Bahur heat waves are coming
Our country will be affected by the eyyam-ı bahur heat waves. Temperatures are expected to rise above 40 degrees in some regions. In our region, low humidity and temperature these days are providing relief.
In Fethiye, temperatures dropped from 38-40 degrees to 36 degrees. Today, the highest temperature is expected to be 38 degrees in Milas and Yatağan.
Throughout the country, from the first days of August, oppressive heat known as eyyam-ı bahur heat waves is expected to prevail.
Especially in Southeastern Anatolia, temperatures above 40 degrees and the high humidity in Istanbul will cause oppressive weather conditions.
DATES SHOW VARIABILITY
The period commonly referred to as eyyam-ı bahur does not have official meteorological dates. In some calendars, these dates are known as "July 31 - August 7," while in others as "August 1 - 8." In Anatolia, Eyyam-ı Bahur is known as the hottest days.

WHAT IS EYYAM-I BAHUR?
Eyyam-ı bahur is an Arabic-origin expression used to describe the hottest, most humid, and oppressive days of summer. Literally, it means "burning hot days" or "days and bahur (heat/vapor)." Among the people, this period is also known as African heat, desert heat, or hellish heat.

METEOROLOGICAL OUTLOOK FOR TODAY
According to the latest evaluations by the General Directorate of Meteorology: northeastern parts of our country are expected to be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy in places; coastal areas of the Eastern Black Sea, Ordu, Artvin, Kars, Ardahan surroundings, the interior of Samsun, southern Iğdır, and eastern Ağrı are expected to have showers and thunderstorms; other areas will be partly cloudy and clear.

TEMPERATURE: No significant change expected.
WIND: Generally expected to blow from northern, southern, and eastern directions at light to moderate strength, and strongly (30-50 km/h) from northeastern directions in Marmara.
WARNINGS
STRONG WIND WARNING: Strong winds (30-50 km/h) from northeastern directions are expected in Marmara; precautions and caution should be taken against possible adverse effects.

METEOROLOGICAL OUTLOOK FOR MUĞLA AND ANTALYA REGIONS
Expected to be clear to slightly cloudy.
TEMPERATURE: A decrease of 1 to 2 degrees is expected along the coastal areas, and an increase of 1 to 2 degrees in interior regions.

WIND: Light to moderate winds from northern and eastern directions, with occasional strong gusts in interior regions, and southern winds along coastal areas in the afternoon.
WARNINGS
Caution and precautions should be taken against possible adverse effects due to high temperatures and low humidity.
