4 Thousand Ton Wheat Harvest from Local Seeds in Dalaman! Certified Production Reaches Farmers
The harvest of wheat produced from local seeds at the TİGEM Agricultural Enterprise in Dalaman district of Muğla continues. While 4 thousand tons of wheat were obtained from production carried out on an area of approximately 10 thousand decares this year, it is planned that 3 thousand tons of this will be delivered to farmers as certified seeds.
The harvest of wheat produced from local seeds on the lands of the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) in Dalaman district of Muğla continues. Wheat was planted on approximately 10 thousand decares of land this year at TİGEM Dalaman Agricultural Enterprise, one of Turkey's important agricultural enterprises.
The harvested wheat was subjected to quality checks and stored in the facility's silos, while the stalks were baled and utilized.
In the work carried out with many agricultural workers, utmost attention is paid to harvest criteria.
TİGEM Dalaman Enterprise Chief Agricultural Engineer Süleyman Gümüş stated in his explanation that during the harvest period, the fire brigade within the enterprise and other teams were kept ready as the first intervention team against possible fires.
Noting that there are 33 thousand 600 decares of agricultural land in Dalaman Enterprise and that their priority activity areas are certified cereal seed, citrus production, as well as large cattle and dairy cattle breeding, Gümüş highlighted that wheat stalks are offered as rough feed for farmers to use in animal husbandry.
Gümüş stated that TİGEM's main mission is to produce quality, certified seeds and preserve breeding animal production and genetic resources,
"Wheat harvest in our enterprise started on June 8th. We carried out our cereal harvest on an area of about 10 thousand decares. We had a good harvest season in terms of both per decare yield and total yield. We obtained approximately 4 thousand tons of wheat from this year's harvest. It is planned that about 3 thousand tons of wheat seed will be produced from these crops." he said.
In addition to wheat production, oil sunflower, corn kernel, vetch, alfalfa, and citrus are also produced at the TİGEM Dalaman Agricultural Enterprise Directorate, and the produced seeds are delivered to farmers through TİGEM seed dealers and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, said Gümüş.
