Ahmet Aras: “We Are in the Fire Zone with All Our Resources”
While the intervention to the forest fire near Bayır Neighborhood in Seydikemer district of Muğla continues uninterruptedly, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality also took part in the field with all its relevant units. Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras conducted inspections at the fire site.
The forest fire near Bayır Neighborhood in Seydikemer district of Muğla spread over a wide area in a short time due to the effective wind. While the Regional Forestry Directorate and related agencies' teams are making intense efforts to control the fire, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality also mobilized all its resources and started field operations from the first hours of the fire outbreak.
All Units of the Metropolitan Municipality Working in Coordination
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality directed numerous personnel, vehicles, and machinery to the region to support the fire extinguishing efforts and to take part where needed. Fire Department, MUSKİ, Technical Services, Agricultural Services, Transportation, Social Services, and Environmental Protection teams are continuing coordinated work to bring the fire under control.
Unity in Fighting the Fire
The Fire Department Directorate has deployed 11 vehicles and 27 personnel to the Seydikemer forest fire, while the Technical Services Directorate supports with 1 tractor-trailer (lowbed), 1 lead vehicle, 1 excavator, 1 grader, 1 backhoe loader, 1 truck, 1 trailer, 1 water tanker, and 10 personnel. MUSKİ General Directorate contributes to the fire fighting efforts with 2 vehicles, 4 personnel, and 2 water tankers, while the Agricultural Services Directorate is on duty in the region with 1 water tanker.
The Transportation Directorate is present in the area with 1 bus and 1 mobile maintenance-repair vehicle to meet the needs of the field teams. The Social Services Directorate supports the teams on duty with 1 catering vehicle, and the Environmental Protection and Control Directorate contributes to the operations with 1 tanker, 1 bulldozer, and 1 trailer.

Chairman of the Coastal Municipalities Union and Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Ahmet Aras, visited the fire site, conducted inspections, and received information from the teams about the current situation. Mayor Aras stated, “We have been closely monitoring the forest fire that occurred in Seydikemer from the first moment. As Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, we have mobilized all our resources with our fire department, MUSKİ, Technical Services, Agricultural Services, Transportation, Social Services, and Environmental Protection teams. We continue our struggle to bring the fire under control in full coordination with the related institutions. Our greatest wish is for the fire to be extinguished as soon as possible and for our citizens and forests to not suffer further damage. I wish ease to all teams fighting the fire and thank our personnel who serve selflessly. As Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, we will continue to be by our citizens wherever needed and provide support with all our strength.”
