Leadership Training Held for Sustainable Water Management in Muğla

Under the coordination of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Department, training organized by the Human Resources and Education Department was held at the Türkan Saylan Contemporary Life Center. In the trainings provided within the scope of TS ISO 46001:2019 Water Efficiency Management System, managers were informed about the water efficiency management system, the role of leadership, corporate responsibilities, and practices for the effective use of water resources.

An Important Step in the ISO 46001 Process

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality is carrying out the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System certification process to protect, monitor, and use water resources efficiently in Muğla, one of the cities expected to be most affected by global climate change. Within this scope, in line with the Water Efficiency Management System Policy signed by Muğla Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras, it is aimed to measure and monitor water consumption throughout the institution, reduce water losses, and implement a continuous improvement approach.

As part of the efforts, the application process for the Blue Water Efficiency Certificate for 19 service buildings belonging to the Metropolitan Municipality has also been initiated. Thus, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality aims to be one of the first public institutions to receive this certificate.

SECAP and Activities Compatible with the 2053 Net Zero Target

ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System is being implemented in Muğla Province Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) in line with Turkey’s 2053 Net Zero Emission Target. While the system aims to reduce the institutional water footprint, use water resources more efficiently, and create a climate-resilient urban structure, it also targets to establish a permanent culture of water efficiency throughout the institution through training and awareness activities.
