Sports community met at the unity breakfast in Fethiye

At the unity and solidarity breakfast organized by the Fethiye District Directorate of Youth and Sports and the Fethiye Clubs Union, the district protocol and sports clubs came together. In the program emphasizing the development of sports, the future of youth, and the importance of solidarity among clubs, plaques were presented to individuals who contributed to sports.

The unity and solidarity breakfast organized by the Fethiye Youth and Sports District Directorate and the Fethiye Clubs Association brought the district's sports community together around the same table. The program was attended by District Governor Fatih Akkaya, District Gendarmerie Commander Major Yaşar Doğu, District Police Chief Salih Murat Kara, District Coast Guard Commander Major Burak Akanpınar, Deputy Mayor Veli Uysal, Fethiyespor Board Member and Fethiye Municipal Council Member Metin Sevinç, along with the presidents, managers, and coaches of sports clubs operating in the district. During the program, plaques were presented to individuals who have long contributed to Fethiye sports, and messages of unity and solidarity were emphasized.

“Unity and solidarity are the greatest strength of sports"

Emphasizing in his speech that the role undertaken by sports clubs and coaches is not only to train athletes, Fethiye District Governor Fatih Akkaya stated that significant investments have been made in the field of youth and sports in recent years. Akkaya said, "In the past, we used to look for a manager and try to find the key to use sports facilities. Today, with the investments of our Ministry of Youth and Sports, there has been a great transformation from facilities to youth centers. Now, a strong structure has been established in every branch of sports." Akkaya expressed that the achievements of sports clubs are a source of pride for Fethiye, stating, "Our clubs not only introduce our children to sports but also represent our district successfully by achieving significant rankings in Muğla and many parts of Turkey. While raising our youth as moral, intelligent, and agile individuals, the sporting successes attained also make us all especially proud." Highlighting that unity and solidarity are among the most important strengths of sports, Akkaya added, "Unity and solidarity mean strength. I hope this solidarity formed within the sports community continues to increase. I also thank our police and gendarmerie forces, who serve with great dedication in all competitions from amateur to professional levels."

"Sports have turned into a big family in Fethiye"

Fethiye Youth and Sports District Director Harun Reşit Yiğit stated that the 2025-2026 season was completed with an intense organizational schedule, saying, "This season we held approximately 860 official competitions. Along with inter-neighborhood and inter-institution tournaments, we experienced an intense sports season approaching one thousand matches. The great effort of our security forces and colleagues played a significant role in ensuring these organizations took place smoothly." Yiğit emphasized that significant growth has occurred in the field of sports in Fethiye in recent years, saying, "When I started my duty, there were 11 sports clubs, 4 private sports facilities, and about 4,200 licensed athletes in our district. Today, we have reached 72 sports clubs, 81 private sports facilities, and nearly 34,000 licensed athletes. This picture is the most concrete indicator of the investments made in youth and sports."

Touching on the importance of the Fethiye Clubs Association, Yiğit said that all sports clubs coming together under the umbrella of unity holds great value for the future of district sports. At the end of his speech, Yiğit made a special mention of Fethiyespor, saying, "Fethiyespor is a common value of this district. We may have grievances, but angry drivers don't make you get off the bus. This club belongs to all of us. We must all take ownership together, and we should grow by sharing, not by dividing," calling for unity within the sports community.
