With the start of the summer season and the closure of schools, visitor density has increased at Akmaz Beach, which serves in Fethiye district of Muğla. Due to the increased demand, the business hours have been updated, and citizens can now enjoy the beach until the evening hours.
With the summer season picking up in Fethiye, the number of visitors at Akmaz Beach has increased significantly. Due to the crowd following the school closures, the beach's operating hours have been readjusted; the facility now opens at 08:00 AM, kitchen service ends at 20:15, and the facility closes at 20:30.
Cansu Deveci, who works as a cashier at Akmaz Beach, said that the new working hours were determined according to the demands of the visitors. Deveci stated that weekdays used to be quieter in previous years, but this season the difference in occupancy between weekdays and weekends has largely disappeared.
Indicating that the beach has been very busy every day with the start of the summer season, Deveci said, “With the closing of schools, there has been a serious crowd at our beach. Therefore, we now open at 08:00 in the morning. Our kitchen serves until 20:15, and our establishment closes at 20:30. It used to be quieter on weekdays and crowded on weekends. Now, we experience crowds almost every day. It is exhausting, but we are satisfied with this crowd.”
Deveci stated that the new time application provides significant convenience especially for families who want to use the beach in the evening hours, noting that citizens can enjoy the sea and the shore until sunset.
Commenting on prices, Deveci said that since Fethiye is a tourism region, the general price level is high, but affordable pricing policies are applied at public beaches owned by the municipality.
Deveci stated that tea is sold for 5 TL, coffee for 75 TL, and meals such as hamburgers for around 200 TL at Akmaz Beach, saying, "This is a public beach. We believe our prices are quite reasonable compared to coastal businesses. Our citizens can both enjoy the sea at affordable prices and have meals and spend time with their families."
