The Chinese Ambassador's Historic Visit to Fethiye

The visit is considered one of the most important steps in the cultural, touristic, and local diplomacy relations that have developed between Fethiye and China in recent years. The delegation of about 40 people will include Ambassador Jiang Xuebin, diplomats from the Chinese Embassy, and university students from Beijing. Throughout the program, in addition to official contacts, activities aimed at strengthening culture, art, tourism, and friendship between peoples will be carried out.

Mountains and Seas Flourish photo exhibition

During the visit, the Ambassador will visit the Fethiye District Governorship and Fethiye Municipality and meet with local administrators. Then, the opening of the joint photo exhibition titled "Mountains and Seas Flourish," prepared in cooperation with the Fethiye Municipality, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ankara, Huzhou, one of China's sister cities, and the Fethiye Photography and Cinema Art Association (FEFSAD), will take place. The exhibition will connect visitors with the cultural ties between the two countries through the art of photography.

Promotional films will be shown at the Cultural Center

At the program to be held at the Özer Olgun Cultural Center, after the speeches of Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca and Ambassador Jiang Xuebin, promotional films introducing Turkey and China will be shown. The program will bring together the cultural riches of the two countries on the stage of the Telmessos ancient theater with traditional Chinese dances performed by university students from Beijing and Turkish folk music and folk dance performances prepared by Fethiye artists.

Chinese Signs Put into Service

One of the striking parts of the program will be the commissioning of Chinese directional signs prepared in the city center of Fethiye. The application, which aims to make it easier for Chinese visitors to move within the city, is considered one of the concrete indicators of Fethiye's importance given to the Chinese market. On the same day, a joint olive tree symbolizing the friendship between Turkey and China will also be planted on the Kordonboyu. The olive tree, accepted as a symbol of peace, abundance, and permanence in both Turkish culture and Mediterranean civilizations, will symbolize the transfer of friendship between the two countries to future generations.

They will perform at Telmessos Ancient Theatre

At 20:00 in the evening, the Telmessos Ancient Theatre will host the cultural meeting between Turkey and China. Following the artistic groups from Fethiye, a dance troupe from Beijing will perform, and the cultural heritages of the two countries will meet on the same stage through art. On the second day of the visit, Ambassador Jiang Xuebin and the accompanying delegation will visit the Xanthos Ancient City, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Ambassador, also known for his historian identity, is expected to receive information about the region's millennia-old history in Xanthos, considered the capital of the Lycian civilization. If the program allows, it is also planned to visit the Letoon sanctuary, which is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The delegation's program also includes ascending to the summit with the Babadağ Cable Car to watch paragliders and closely getting to know the historical and cultural heritage of the region in Kayaköy. In recent years, this visit is expected to open new opportunities in many areas from tourism to culture, local government collaborations to economic relations, for Fethiye, which has taken significant steps towards the Chinese market. This comprehensive program, to be realized in the 55th year of diplomatic relations, aims to give new momentum to friendship between Fethiye and China and make a significant contribution to the city's international promotion.
