Good news from Yeşilüzümlü: Partially brought under control
The forest fire that reignited around noon in Üzümlü Neighborhood of Fethiye was partially brought under control thanks to intensive intervention from teams by air and ground. While the energy of the flames was significantly reduced, cooling and control efforts continue in the area.
A large number of air and ground teams intervened in the forest fire that reignited around 14:00 today in Üzümlü Neighborhood of Fethiye district of Muğla.
Thanks to the repeated sorties of helicopters and firefighting planes and the coordinated work of forest and fire teams, the energy of the fire was reduced and the flames were partially brought under control.
WIND CHALLENGED THE TEAMS
The strong wind in the fire area frequently changed direction, sometimes complicating extinguishing efforts. Teams are carrying out intensive efforts in the area to prevent the flames from growing again.
RESIDENTS EVACUATED AS A PRECAUTION
As the fire approached residential areas, residents in some houses near the flames were evacuated to safe areas as a precaution.
Authorities stated that the evacuations were carried out entirely as a preventive measure, and it was reported that the teams continue their work nonstop to protect both the residential areas and the forested zone.
THE FIRE FLARED UP FOR THE SECOND TIME
The fire that broke out around 02:00 the previous night in the forest area near Üzümlü Neighborhood quickly spread over a wide area due to the wind.
After ground efforts throughout the night, helicopters and planes joined the operations at first daylight, and with intensive air support, the fire was brought under control.
However, flames rose again near the same location around noon today, and teams intervened quickly to prevent the fire from growing further.
Cooling efforts and controls to prevent possible re-ignitions continue in the area.
