Governor Akbıyık presents gold award to World Champion Karahan

Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık hosted World Champion national canoeist Rahmi Kaan Karahan at his office and awarded him with gold.

National athlete Rahmi Kaan Karahan, who achieved a historic success at the ICF 2026 Junior and U23 Flatwater Canoe World Championship held in Canada, was received by Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık at the office and awarded with gold.

Rahmi Kaan Karahan, a national athlete from Köyceğiz who made his name in Turkish canoe history by winning 1 gold and 2 bronze medals at the ICF 2026 Junior and U23 Flatwater Canoe World Championship, visited Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık at his office.

The visit was also attended by Karahan's coach Ufuk Özcan and Muğla Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Musa Kazım Açıkaç. Congratulating the successful athlete, Governor Akbıyık expressed that the achievements attained by Karahan are a great source of pride for Muğla and Turkey.

Emphasizing that Rahmi Kaan Karahan, who is world champion in 500 meters and world third in the 200 and 1000 meter categories, sets an example for the youth with his determination, Governor Akbıyık said that investments in youth yielding international success is promising for the future.

After his speech, Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık awarded World Champion Rahmi Kaan Karahan with gold, wished continued success to the national athlete, and congratulated his coach and everyone who contributed.
