Governor Akbıyık: "We are determinedly protecting our Blue Homeland"

Expressing that they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Maritime and Cabotage Law with great pride and enthusiasm, Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık said, "We are determinedly protecting every drop of our Blue Homeland."

Muğla Governor Dr. İdris Akbıyık released a message on the occasion of the 1st of July Maritime and Cabotage Day. Stating that they celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Maritime and Cabotage Law with great pride and enthusiasm, Governor Akbıyık said in his message, "We proudly and enthusiastically celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Maritime and Cabotage Law, which marks our full independence and national sovereignty in our seas. July 1, 1926, is a glorious milestone when our noble nation declared to the world its will to exist with its own flag in its territorial waters. Our maritime culture, which is the legacy of Barbaros Hayreddin Pashas, Çaka Beys and Turgut Reis, is today crowned with masterpieces like TCG Anadolu, the pride of our domestic defense industry, under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s 'Turkey Century' vision, and we are determinedly protecting every drop of our Blue Homeland. It is a special honor for us to celebrate this holiday in Muğla, which has Turkey's longest coastline, is the heart of blue voyages, and a jewel of sea tourism. Our greatest responsibility is to protect this unique maritime geography and the lands where green meets blue with an environmental awareness worthy of our national and spiritual values, and to carry it into the future. On this meaningful day, I commemorate with mercy, gratitude, and respect the founder of our Republic Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk foremost, his comrades-in-arms and all our maritime martyrs, I extend my thanks to our heroic veterans, and warmly celebrate the Maritime and Cabotage Day of all our seafarers who earn their livelihood from the sea and our noble nation. May your prow be steady, may the wind be at your back."
