Exemplary Environmental Cleanup Event by Students at Ula Pond

In the event organized by the Department of Environmental Protection and Control, students both contributed to environmental cleaning and learned the importance of environmental awareness for a sustainable future through experience.

Within the scope of the event, students from Ula Dumlupınar Elementary School, their teachers, and municipal teams conducted cleaning activities around Ula Pond. Wearing Environmental Volunteer vests to send a message of environmental sensitivity, the students made a small contribution to environmental protection at an early age by collecting waste.

Continuing its educational and awareness efforts aimed at increasing environmental awareness among children, the Metropolitan Municipality has so far conducted environmental education and awareness programs for nearly 3,000 students in 29 schools.

For a Clean Muğla of the Future

Highlighting that the environmental consciousness gained by children at a young age will create more livable cities in the future, the Metropolitan Municipality stated that they will continue education and awareness efforts for a cleaner and more sustainable Muğla.

Ahmet Aras, Chairman of the Coastal Municipalities Association and Mayor of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, emphasized the importance of gaining environmental awareness in childhood and said: “Environmental protection awareness is one of the most valuable legacies we will leave to our children. The sensitivity shown by our children towards protecting nature at this event held at Ula Pond made us very happy. Every piece of waste collected here is an important step taken for our future. We will continue our education and awareness efforts to raise our children as environmentally conscious individuals. We can only build a cleaner, more livable, and sustainable Muğla together with generations that have high environmental awareness.”
