Fire in Seydikemer is advancing towards Burdur road
The ongoing forest fire in Seydikemer district continues to advance towards the Burdur road due to strong winds. The road has been closed to vehicle traffic for safety reasons, while the teams continue their intense efforts to stop the flames.
The forest fire that started in Bayır Neighborhood in Seydikemer district and intensified throughout the day is advancing towards the Burdur road due to strong winds. As the fire approached the highway, security measures were increased. The Burdur road was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic and transportation in the area has been halted.
Teams from the Regional Forestry Directorate along with firefighting units are conducting intense aerial and ground operations to prevent the flames from crossing to the other side of the road and to bring the fire under control. The wind, which increases the fire's intensity intermittently in the area, is making the extinguishing efforts more difficult.
In response to the fire, 5 firefighting planes, 18 helicopters, 93 fire trucks, 3 first intervention vehicles, 24 water tankers, 23 construction machines, 73 support vehicles, 6 riot control vehicles (TOMA), and 8 ambulances are deployed in the area. A total of 23 air vehicles, 137 ground units, and 835 personnel are continuously working to control the fire.
