15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Program Held in Seydikemer

In Muğla's Seydikemer district, a commemoration program was held under the theme 'Victory of the Nation and Faith' within the scope of 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day. Seydikemer Mayor B. Önder Akdenizli stated that 15 July is a heroic epic written by the Turkish nation by protecting the national will.

Within the scope of the commemoration events organized by Seydikemer Municipality, citizens martyred during the July 15, 2016 coup attempt by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) were commemorated with mercy, and prayers were offered for the veterans.

Mayor Akdenizli: “15 July is the Heroic Epic of Our Nation”

Seydikemer Mayor B. Önder Akdenizli stated that July 15 is not only the day a coup attempt was prevented but also a historic turning point when the Turkish nation stood up for its independence, democracy, and national will.

Akdenizli said, “July 15 is not just the date a coup attempt was foiled; it is the name of a glorious resistance in which our noble nation defended its homeland, flag, and democracy at the cost of their lives.”

“Our Nation United As One That Night”

Akdenizli emphasized that on the night of July 15, millions of citizens went to the squares responding to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call, defending the national will, showing great solidarity across gender and age.

Akdenizli stated, “Traitors could not foresee the courage, faith, and love for their homeland of our nation. The epic written that night became a historic turning point, reviving the spirit of Çanakkale and the national struggle in the War of Independence.”

“We Will Protect the Legacy of Our Martyrs”

Akdenizli noted that protecting the legacy of the martyrs is a shared responsibility, affirming that the sacrifices of those who gave their lives to preserve Turkey’s independence and democracy will never be forgotten.

Highlighting the importance of passing on the spirit of July 15 to future generations, Akdenizli expressed that raising children and youth with a consciousness of national unity and solidarity is vital for Turkey’s future.

“As Long As We Protect Our Unity, No Treacherous Attempt Can Succeed”

Mayor Akdenizli stated that although years have passed since July 15, the date maintains its place in the nation’s memory as if it was yesterday, and preserving unity and solidarity is Turkey’s greatest strength.

Akdenizli said, “As Seydikemer, we will continue to stand by our state and nation as we did yesterday. On the anniversary of 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day, we commemorate all our martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, with mercy and gratitude, and I wish our heroic veterans a healthy and peaceful life.”
