Ortaca is getting a modern shelter with the support of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality

Journalist Sevgi presented Mayor Tezcan with a personalized print version of the world-famous Atatürk portrait, painted in 1969 by the internationally renowned Atatürk Painter Master Etem Çalışkan and featuring Atatürk's signature, as a gift for "the 100th Year of the Republic of Turkey and the 3rd Year of its Second Century." Happy with the visit, Ortaca Mayor Evren Tezcan shared information about the ongoing works, stating that with the support of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, they have started the construction of a shelter for stray animals, which will be completed in approximately 8 months and will begin serving under the name "Ortaca Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center."

100 SQUARE METERS OF LIVING SPACE AND CLINIC SERVICES FOR EACH STREET CREATURE

Providing information at the construction site of the Ortaca Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center, project managers Ortaca Deputy Mayor Hüsnü Sarı and Municipal Veterinary Services Director Veterinarian Hamit Demir emphasized that the shelter will not only provide a safe living space for homeless animals but will also improve animal healthcare services in the region; "Since 2020, we have been continuing care, treatment, and rehabilitation services for homeless animals at Dalaman Municipality Animal Shelter. In the future, these services will be carried out in a more comprehensive and modern manner within Ortaca Municipality Animal Care and Rehabilitation Center.

The facility, which will be built on an area of approximately 15 thousand square meters with a capacity of 710 dogs, will be one of the important animal care and rehabilitation centers in the region. The administrative building included in the project will contain "operating room, examination room, veterinarian room, staff rooms, waste management room, and support units." The examination and operating room sections will be equipped with state-of-the-art devices and equipment to be used for diagnosis and treatment of homeless animals, aiming to provide health services in the most effective way. The facility will have 71 open living areas, each 100 m² in size, hosting a maximum of 10 animals in line with animal welfare principles. Thus, animals will be able to live healthier, safer, and in more natural conditions. To effectively run the services at the center, an expert team consisting of 1 veterinarian, 1 veterinary technician, 1 veterinary assistant, 2 animal ambulance drivers, and 3 animal caretakers will be employed. Our experienced staff will carefully carry out the care, treatment, rehabilitation, and adoption processes of homeless animals. The center, which will start serving in about 8 months, will cost approximately 48 million TL with the great support of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality and our Honorable Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Aras," they said.
