MUSKİ Renewed the Wastewater Infrastructure in Marmaris

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Water and Sewerage Administration General Directorate conducted renovation work at three pumping stations in Marmaris to strengthen the wastewater infrastructure. Coarse screens that had reached the end of their service life were replaced with an investment of approximately 17 million TL. The work aimed to reduce the risk of clogging and malfunction in the wastewater system and ensure more regular operation of the pumping stations. MUSKİ also emphasized that solid waste thrown by citizens into the sewer lines causes significant problems in the system.

Three centers renewed in Marmaris wastewater infrastructure

MUSKİ General Directorate replaced coarse screens at three pumping stations in the district of Marmaris. The renewal of worn equipment aimed to ensure healthier and uninterrupted operation of the wastewater infrastructure. The coarse screens used in pumping stations are among the fundamental equipment that prevent solid materials arriving in the wastewater line from damaging the system. Over time, the loss of functionality of these systems increases the risk of blockages and malfunctions in the pumps. With the renovation work carried out by MUSKİ, it was planned both to reduce maintenance needs and to make operational processes more efficient.

Malfunction risk reduced with 17 million TL investment

The work carried out in Marmaris was completed with an investment of approximately 17 million TL. Coarse screens that had reached the end of their service life were replaced with more durable and modern equipment. MUSKİ aims with the renovation to prevent the blockages experienced in the system and the resulting operational disruptions. The work is also important in terms of more efficient use of public resources. A decrease in malfunctions will contribute to lowering maintenance and repair costs.

Solid wastes damage the sewer system

Serdar Aldemir, Head of MUSKİ Enterprises 2nd Regional Office, stated that foreign materials thrown into wastewater lines cause serious blockages in the system. Aldemir said that wet wipes, plastic bags, hygiene products, and similar solid wastes cause malfunctions in pumps and equipment. He expressed that the renovation made at the three pumping stations in Marmaris contributed to the long-lasting operation of the system. He emphasized that the correct use of sewer lines by citizens is decisive for the continuity of the service.
