Thermometers reached 45 degrees in Muğla
Muğla's Menteşe district is experiencing the hottest days of the summer season. Life in the city center has practically come to a standstill due to the heat affecting the region.
While citizens sought refuge in the shade of nearby parks, it was learned that the high temperatures will continue throughout the day in the area.
Extreme heat that has intensified in recent days in Muğla and its surroundings has almost paralyzed daily life in the region. Especially in the Menteşe district, where air temperatures rose far above seasonal norms and humidity rapidly decreased, the conditions have become stifling for citizens.
During the most critical hours of the day, thermometers in the city center tested 45 degrees, and the streets and avenues experienced one of their quietest days in recent years.
City Centers Emptied, Parks Became Refuge
Menteşe squares, which are usually lively, fell silent during the peak heat hours at noon. Muğla residents preferred not to go outside unless necessary, and those caught outside rushed to tree-covered areas and park shades nearby. The city's green spaces became the only refuge for citizens seeking to escape the heat and breathe even a little.
Critical Warnings from Experts
According to information received from meteorology officials, it was learned that the high temperatures in the region will continue throughout the day and into the coming days. These extreme temperatures combined with low humidity also elevate the risk of forest fires to a maximum level.
Experts emphasize that especially the following groups should avoid direct sunlight exposure between 11:00 and 16:00:
- People with chronic illnesses (Blood pressure, heart, asthma, etc.)
- Elderly and infants
- Workers who have to work under the sun
While the heatwave is expected to continue dominating the region for some time, authorities are warning citizens to consume plenty of fluids and eat light foods.
