Ban on Loud Music in Coves in Muğla: Fines Up to 800 Thousand TL Will Be Imposed
With the new decision of the Muğla Governorship, loud music broadcast from boats is banned within 500 meters of the shore and in anchoring areas. Administrative fines of up to 800 thousand TL may be imposed on boats that do not comply with the rules.
The Muğla Governorship has implemented a new regulation regarding loud music broadcasts from boats following increased noise complaints in coves during the summer season. According to the decision taken by the Provincial Local Environment Board, music broadcasting from boats will not be allowed within 500 meters of the shore and in anchoring zones.
MUSIC BAN WITHIN 500 METERS OF THE SHORE
With the decision taken under the Environmental Noise Control Regulation, it is prohibited to broadcast loud music from boats located closer than 500 meters to the shore outside specified coordinates. In anchoring areas covered by the Port Regulation, music activities have been completely halted.
The new implementation covers the districts of Bodrum, Marmaris, Datça, Fethiye, Göcek, Milas, Menteşe, and Ula. Areas with heavy marine traffic in Bodrum such as Gümüşlük, Yahşi, Akyarlar, and Pabuç Cape are also included in the restriction.
In the Göcek-Dalaman region, music broadcast will only be allowed under control within the coordinates determined by the Governorship. Coves outside these limits will be designated as "quiet zones."
INSPECTIONS WILL INCREASE, FINES CAN REACH UP TO 800 THOUSAND TL
The Muğla Governorship explained that the purpose of the regulation is not to hinder tourism activities but to protect the marine ecosystem and ensure the peace of citizens vacationing in the coves.
Commercial tour boats, blue tour boats, and entertainment boats that violate the rules may be subject to administrative fines of up to 800 thousand TL depending on the nature of the violation. Music broadcasting will be stopped immediately when a violation is detected.
Throughout the summer season, inspections will be intensified in coordination with the Coast Guard Command, Port Authorities, and municipal teams. Legal actions, including suspension of operation, may be applied to boats that repeatedly violate the rules.
