The Cooperation Process Has Started Between Muğla and Romania's Valcea City

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality took the first step in the cooperation process with Valcea city of Romania covering agriculture, tourism, culture, and EU projects.

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality made contacts with Valcea city of Romania within the scope of efforts to develop international local government collaborations. During the meetings, the development of joint projects in many areas including agriculture, tourism, culture, trade and rural development was discussed, and cooperation opportunities aimed at European Union funds were evaluated. The parties expressed a joint will to establish a long-term and sustainable cooperation mechanism between the two cities.

Muğla delegation held talks in Valcea

The delegation led by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras included Yatağan Mayor Mesut Günay, Dalaman Mayor Sezer Durmuş, and members of Muğla Metropolitan Municipality council.

The delegation met with Valcea Provincial Council Chairman Constantin Rădulescu, Râmnicu Vâlcea Mayor Mircia Gutău, and Ocnele Mari Mayor Remus Gabriel Sasu. They evaluated potential collaborative efforts that could be developed between the two regions during the talks.

Agriculture, tourism and EU projects discussed

During the contacts, joint projects that can be carried out in the fields of agriculture, tourism, culture, trade and local development were discussed. Additionally, assessments toward moving jointly in European Union-funded projects were made.

In the meetings, focus was placed on utilizing Romania's experience in benefiting from European Union funds together with Muğla's local government experience in joint projects, and on the goal of having both regions participate together in international project processes.

Emphasis on cultural cooperation and city diplomacy

It was agreed during the visit that relations between the two regions should be developed not only at the local government level but also among communities. Evaluations were made to support activities that will strengthen cultural interaction, friendship, and mutual understanding.

The parties agreed to continue contacts to ensure the established cooperation acquires a long-term and multi-faceted structure.

Mayor Aras: "We aim to strengthen Muğla through international collaborations"

Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras stated regarding the contacts in Romania that they aim to strengthen Muğla’s natural, cultural, and economic potential further through international collaborations.

Noting the importance of the process initiated with Valcea, Aras expressed that they evaluated opportunities for joint work in many areas, especially tourism, agriculture, culture, trade, and European Union projects.

Aras said that relationships to be established between local governments will also strengthen links among peoples, and they have expressed a joint will to implement projects that will contribute to both cities through information and experience sharing. He added that Muğla will continue to develop its international relations and hopes that the process initiated with Valcea will turn into a long-term cooperation.
