Equestrian Project for Children by Muğla Metropolitan Municipality

Within the scope of the “Children Growing with Nature, Strengthened by Horses Project” carried out in collaboration with the Youth and Sports Services Department and the Health and Social Services Department, children aged 9-13 are provided with basic horseback riding training.

A Total of 40 Children Will Receive Horseback Riding Training

Thanks to the project implemented in cooperation with Padok Horse Farm, children will both get to know the sport of horseback riding and experience a safe educational process intertwined with nature and animals.

Within the project, children determined by the Health and Social Services Department will participate in training sessions held in two separate four-week terms.

Trainings Are Conducted Practically

At the beginning of the program, children received orientation training about horseback riding and safety rules. Then, in the practical trainings, activities such as meeting horses, basic information about horse care, safe approach and communication, basic riding techniques, balance and coordination exercises, and practical riding lessons will be conducted.

The Aim Is to Strengthen Children’s Connection with Sports and Nature

The project aims for children to gain a sports culture, participate more actively in social life, and experience different sports branches. At the same time, through the interaction they establish with nature and animals, it is intended to contribute to the development of environmental awareness and love for animals.

Chairman of the Coastal Municipalities Union and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, Ahmet Aras, stated that they care about the social, physical and emotional development of children and that they also try to prevent screen addiction with activities like these. He expressed that projects conducted closely with nature contribute to children gaining self-confidence and acquiring new experiences.

Mayor Aras said, “We value our children growing up as individuals who connect with nature, embrace love for animals, and grow intertwined with sports. Through this project, our children not only get to know a new sport but also gain values such as responsibility, discipline, and self-confidence, which will benefit them throughout their lives. Moreover, children who do not remain dependent on screens during the summer vacation find opportunities to socialize through activities like this. As Muğla Metropolitan Municipality, we will continue to produce projects with our social municipalism approach to help our children grow as happy, healthy, and multifaceted individuals.”
