Deputy Otgöz; Work has started on the Karabel Tunnel

AK Party Muğla Deputy Yakup Otgöz, AK Party Muğla Provincial Chairman Cengizhan Güngör, Seydikemer Mayor Önder Akdenizli, Seydikemer District Chairman Ali Büklü, Antalya Regional Director of Highways Hasan Sarıoğlan, Bayburt Group managers, mukhtars, and citizens participated in the ceremony held for the Karabel Tunnel works.

Deputy Yakup Otgöz made a written statement about the Karabel Tunnel works, providing the following information.

For a long time, I followed the Karabel Tunnel project as a mukhtar and Mayor in Seydikemer, and now, by the grace of God, as a deputy.

Since the day I became a deputy, the most important investment I have focused on and closely followed has been the Karabel Tunnel. I took it as my mission and aimed to complete the tunnel within our term.

For the Karabel Tunnel, we received support from our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We met many times and for hours with our Minister of Transportation Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

We worked and succeeded. Finally, the completion tender was announced.

I thank our President, our Minister of Transportation, our General Director of Highways, our Regional Director, and everyone who contributed for their interest and support.

My dear fellow citizens always asked me the same question when they saw me: "What will happen to the Karabel Tunnel?" Now, we give you the answer and our good news here in front of you all.

We kept our promise and today, with sacrificial offerings, we say Bismillah. We continue the Karabel Tunnel works from where we left off.

The completion tender of our tunnel was held on April 7, 2026. Construction sites are being set up both at the entrance of the tunnel and in the lower area. Progress will be made from the bottom towards the Seydikemer direction. Work will start from two points. The contract price for the tunnel completion work is 5.6 billion TL.

In the 3,363-meter-long double-tube Karabel Tunnel, a total of 1,466 m (right tube 1,453 m, left tube 1,479 m) of excavation and support has been completed. In other words, approximately 40% of the tunnel's excavation and support works are finished. We plan to complete the remaining part and open it to service as soon as possible.

Our Karabel Tunnel, located on the highway connecting Muğla’s Fethiye and Seydikemer districts to Burdur and Antalya provinces, will make the difficult route between Seydikemer and Söğüt much easier to travel. This tunnel will save time for our citizens and reduce accidents.

As the AK Party government, the safety, comfort, peace, and time of our citizens are always important to us.

We have accelerated the ongoing divided road works of Seydikemer – Söğüt, Seydikemer – Kalkan as well. The project length of the Seydikemer-Söğüt State Road is 69 km. So far, a total of 30 km has been completed as divided road within the scope of the road construction works. We plan to open the entire Seydikemer-Söğüt road to service in 2027.

The Seydikemer – Kalkan road is also progressing rapidly. The total length of the road is 51 km, of which 30 km are in Muğla and 21 km in Antalya Province. Within the project scope, 26 km of divided road (23 km in Muğla Province and 3 km in Antalya Province) has been completed. Work continues with a completion contract worth 2.4 billion TL, tendered on April 27, 2026.

Divided road work will be done on a total of 25 km, consisting of 7 km within Muğla provincial boundaries in Eşen and 18 km within Antalya provincial boundaries. Additionally, within the tender scope, the Eşen Stream overpass bridge and Eşen Stream Bridge will also be constructed.

The Karabel Tunnel, Seydikemer – Söğüt road, and Seydikemer – Kalkan road projects already are beneficial and auspicious for Muğla, Seydikemer, Fethiye, Antalya, and our valued citizens.

We continue our efforts without slowing down to bring investments and services to Muğla.
