A critical warning came for the weather in Muğla. The 4th Regional Directorate of Meteorology announced that locally heavy rain is expected in the inland areas of Muğla on Thursday, June 18. Authorities requested citizens to be careful and take precautions against thunderstorm showers expected to be effective especially from midday.
Showers expected in the inland areas of Muğla
According to the warning published by the Regional Forecast and Warning Center of Meteorology 4th Regional Directorate, the weather will suddenly change in some districts across Muğla. The showers expected to begin after noon on Thursday are reported to be locally heavy.
Residents of these districts should be careful
The warning explained that heavy rain is expected to be effective in the surroundings of Yatağan, Kavaklıdere, Menteşe, Köyceğiz, Dalaman, Fethiye, and Seydikemer. It was noted that rain seen in the form of thunderstorms may intensify rapidly in a short time.
Risk of sudden flood and waterlogging
Meteorology warned citizens against adverse conditions such as flash floods, waterlogging, lightning, local hail, and strong winds during rainfall along with heavy rain. Special attention was requested for riverbeds, low-lying areas, and regions with risk of waterlogging.
Disruptions in transportation may occur
During the hours when the rain is effective, it was stated that visibility in traffic may decrease, water puddles may form on roads, and disruptions in transportation may occur. Drivers were advised to take precautions against sudden rain showers, and citizens were urged to be cautious about lightning risk in open areas.
Warning will last 8 hours
In the statement made by Meteorology, it was stated that the warning will start at 12:00 on Thursday, June 18, 2026, and will be valid until 20:00 on the same day. Authorities requested citizens to follow meteorological warnings during the specified time period.
