Mesut Günay was the Guest of Bodrum Idea Club

Yatağan Mayor Mesut Günay attended the meeting held by Bodrum Idea Club on July 11. At the gathering, the appointment to the CHP Muğla Provincial Presidency, the use of coastlines, the NATO Summit, and current political developments were evaluated.

The Idea Club meeting in Bodrum, where developments on city and national agendas were discussed, was held on Saturday, July 11, at Toloman Hotel.

The meeting, moderated by Ziya Levent Doğuç and secretaried by Duran Öztürk, was attended by Yatağan Mayor Mesut Günay as a special guest. Another guest of the meeting was the 18th Term Social Democrat Populist Party Member of Parliament Ali Haydar Erdoğan.

The Appointment to CHP Muğla Provincial Presidency was Discussed

One of the prominent agenda items of the meeting was the appointment made to the CHP Muğla Provincial Presidency. Participants expressed that internal party appointments should be evaluated in terms of organizational will and democratic legitimacy.

Idea Club members stated their opposition to Halil Karahan's appointment as CHP Muğla Provincial President and expressed their opinion that the elected provincial president Nail Kızıl is the legitimate provincial president.

It was also noted at the meeting that support was given to CHP General President Özgür Özel, emphasizing that legitimacy within the party should be based on the elected organizational will.

The Public Nature of Bodrum’s Coastlines was Discussed

The use and management of Bodrum’s coastlines were also discussed at the gathering. Participants stated that the public nature of the coastlines must be protected and that public interest should be the basis in coastline management.

The importance of closely monitoring the coastal arrangements planned to be prepared by Bodrum Municipality was highlighted.

NATO Summit and Foreign Policy were Evaluated

The meeting also included evaluations on the foreign policy and geopolitical impacts of holding the NATO Summit in Turkey.

Participants shared their views that Turkey should pursue a foreign policy prioritizing national interests and based on the principle of independence.

The meeting, attended by Yatağan Mayor Mesut Günay, concluded with Idea Club members reiterating their commitment to democratic struggle, elected organizational will, and social democratic values.
