Holiday Crowds in Marmaris: 3250 Tons of Waste Collected in 9 Days
During the Eid al-Adha holiday, where the population density increased in Marmaris, municipal teams worked uninterrupted in the field. Marmaris Municipality Cleaning Affairs Directorate teams collected approximately 3250 tons of waste during the 9-day holiday period; they also carried out continuous cleaning activities in streets, parks, beaches, bays, and picnic areas.
Marmaris, one of Turkey's important tourism centers, experienced an intense influx of visitors during the Eid al-Adha holiday. With holidaymakers coming to the district in addition to the resident population, activity increased throughout the city. Despite the increased population density, Marmaris Municipality worked intensively to prevent any disruption in cleaning services through the precautions taken before the holiday and the field teams' work.
175 Personnel Worked in Three Shifts
A total of 175 field staff working under the Marmaris Municipality Cleaning Affairs Directorate worked in three shifts throughout the holiday. The teams carried out cleaning services uninterrupted across the district on a 24/7 basis. During the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday, the teams collected approximately 3250 tons of waste, conducting intensive work for the cleanliness and order of Marmaris.
Streets, Parks, and Common Areas Were Disinfected
During the holiday, cleaning efforts were increased in the district center, tourist neighborhoods, and heavily used areas. The teams washed and disinfected streets, playground equipment in children’s parks, and common use areas. Vehicle-assisted sweeping was performed in bustling locations such as the market, waterfront, marina, and Love Path. Thus, both citizens and visitors to the district were able to spend time in cleaner and more orderly areas.
Bays, Picnic Areas, and Rural Neighborhoods Were Also Cleaned
The cleaning efforts were not limited to the municipality's responsibility areas. The teams continued waste collection activities in rural neighborhoods, along roadsides, in picnic areas, bays, and lookout points. Particularly, efforts in natural areas that are heavily used during the holiday aimed to prevent environmental pollution.
Mayor Ünlü: "Our Teams Worked with Great Dedication"
Evaluating the work carried out during the holiday, Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü stated that no significant problems occurred in the district and thanked the municipal teams.
Mayor Ünlü made the following statements:
"Our teams worked with great dedication to ensure that our citizens and guests had a comfortable holiday. We were out in the field with all our units throughout the 9-day holiday. We made great efforts to immediately intervene in any potential problems. I thank all my colleagues who contributed to the cleanliness and order of Marmaris."
