While thousands of people watch the unique view and take photos every day at Viewing Hill, one of Marmaris' iconic spots, the litter left behind causes environmental pollution. Marmaris Municipality teams carried out a comprehensive cleaning work in the area especially to collect glass bottles that pose a fire risk.
Viewing Hill, one of the most visited points of Marmaris and offering a panoramic view of the district, hosts thousands of local and foreign visitors every day. However, the environmental pollution experienced just below the postcard view continues to be one of the most significant problems of the region.
The teams from Marmaris Municipality Cleaning Services Directorate carried out another comprehensive environmental cleaning on the road route at the entrance of Marmaris and around Viewing Hill. Waste carelessly thrown onto slopes and roadsides was collected one by one, with the most noticeable wastes being glass bottles. The teams conducted a meticulous work due to the fire risk that glass waste can cause, especially under the effect of high temperatures in summer.
Cleaning Services Coordinator Barış Ünlü also participated in the efforts. Drawing attention to the risk that glass bottles left inside and around forested areas can focus sunlight and cause fire, Ünlü invited citizens to be more sensitive, stating that preserving the natural beauties of the district is a shared responsibility of not only the municipality but everyone, saying, "Viewing Hill is in the position of the showcase of Marmaris. We kindly ask all our citizens to leave their trash in trash bins, not in nature, so that we can leave this unique nature and our beautiful district clean and healthy for future generations."
