Knidos is ready to visit with its new face! Environmental arrangement and tour routes completed
With the environmental arrangement works carried out at Knidos Archaeological Site in Datça district of Muğla, parking capacity was increased to solve problems caused by crowding, physical damage in areas in contact with the sea was prevented and repaired, and new tour routes were created; while the historical texture was preserved with the applications realized with the vision of “Heritage to the Future,” the sustainable use of the area was strengthened. Minister Ersoy said they preserved the physical structure of the area, reorganized the tour routes, and balanced the usage intensity.
The works carried out at the Knidos Archaeological Site in Datça district of Muğla present a balanced approach between the preservation of the historical heritage and the usage order of the area. With arrangements that consider the natural and archaeological integrity of the ancient city, the aim is both to preserve the existing structure and to allow the area to be experienced in a more orderly and controlled way.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy made a statement on his social media accounts regarding the environmental arrangement works carried out at Knidos Archaeological Site.
Ersoy stated that within the scope of the “Heritage to the Future” project, parking capacity issues experienced especially during peak periods at the archaeological site were resolved, the physical damage occurring in areas in contact with the sea was prevented and repairs were completed, and new tour routes were created to regulate visitor flow.

"We have completed an important arrangement at Knidos that protects the historical texture and strengthens the sustainability of the area.
With the works we carried out at Knidos Archaeological Site in Muğla Datça, we solved the parking capacity problem experienced in peak periods.
We prevented physical damage occurring in areas in contact with the sea, made improvements, and created new tour routes.
In line with our 'Heritage to the Future' vision, we continue with determination to preserve and carry our cultural heritage into the future.

Completed with project board approval! Works continue with an academic team
The mentioned works at Knidos Archaeological Site are carried out according to the project approved by the relevant board, were completed and temporary acceptance was made as of 2026.
The works carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in cooperation with Selçuk University have been conducted since 2012 by Prof. Dr. Ertekin Doksanaltı and his team.
