Bodrum Ballet Festival Started
The 23rd International Bodrum Ballet Festival opened with "Swan Lake," one of the masterpieces of the world ballet repertoire.
"Swan Lake," the opening performance of the 23rd International Bodrum Ballet Festival organized by the State Opera and Ballet General Directorate, was successfully staged by the Izmir State Opera and Ballet at the Bodrum Castle Northern Moat Stage.
Performed to the immortal music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the work met the audience with the classical choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, followed by the interpretation of G. Armağan Davran and A. Volkan Ersoy. The performance, staged in the historical atmosphere of Bodrum Castle with its elegant choreography, impressive scenery, and costumes, made a magnificent start to the festival's opening.
The masterpiece, which narrates the struggle of love, loyalty, and kindness against evil, was followed with great interest by art lovers, and the artists received a long standing ovation at the finale.
During the opening night, the State Opera and Ballet artist Almula Özlem, who passed away in 2024, was also commemorated.
Among the audience, who showed great interest in the performance, were Bodrum District Governor Ali Sırmalı, Deputy Mayor Emel Çakaloğlu, and Bodrum District Police Chief Mehmet Darendeli.
The second performance for art lovers who missed the opportunity to watch the work will be held on the evening of August 1, Saturday, at the Bodrum Castle Northern Moat Stage. The 23rd International Bodrum Ballet Festival will continue to host art lovers with distinguished works until August 17.
