Great Support for Silkworm
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality provides tent and bedstead support to producers to develop silkworm breeding in Köyceğiz.
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality is implementing new support initiatives to develop and expand the ancient silkworm breeding in Köyceğiz. With the tent and bedstead support provided by the Metropolitan Municipality, it is aimed that producers will carry out production under more hygienic, efficient, and sustainable conditions.

New support for traditional production in Köyceğiz
Muğla Metropolitan Municipality has added another project supporting rural development. Equipment support is provided to producers to develop silkworm breeding, which has been carried out in Köyceğiz district for many years.
Support including feeding boxes and silkworm feeding houses is provided by the Agricultural Services Department for silkworm breeding continuing in the neighborhoods of Pınarköy, Sazak, Beyobası, Çandır, and Akköprü in Köyceğiz, to enable production under more suitable conditions.
Köyceğiz is a central hub for silkworm breeding
Silkworm breeding, which is the source of livelihood for approximately 150 producer families across Muğla, stands out especially in Köyceğiz. In Köyceğiz, the district with the highest production in the city, 120 producer families engage in silkworm breeding.
With the efforts led by the Metropolitan Municipality, the goal is to improve working conditions for producers, increase yield, and create environments suitable for the silkworm's life cycle. These supports are expected to significantly contribute, particularly in terms of sustaining traditional production.

Feeding tents provided to producers in 5 districts
In 2026, a total of 5 silkworm feeding tents were made available to producers in the districts of Milas, Menteşe, Marmaris, Yatağan, and Köyceğiz. Each tent is 100 square meters in size and is delivered to producers through agricultural development cooperatives operating in the region.
Within the scope of the support efforts, the aim is not only to meet the equipment needs of the producers but also to increase hygiene and efficiency standards during the production process.
Tents can also be used in different agricultural productions
The silkworm feeding tents provided to producers stand out with their demountable structure. These tents, which can be relocated to different areas if needed, offer ease of use to the producers.
The tents are designed not only for silkworm breeding but also for different agricultural activities such as mushroom production and early seedling cultivation. With this feature, the supports are intended to provide year-round benefits to the producers.
120 producer families will benefit from the support
Within the scope of the support program, a total of 5 silkworm feeding tents measuring 100 square meters each were delivered to the producers. Additionally, 750 feeding boxes and a total of 40 four-tier bedsteads to be used inside the tents will be provided.
While 4 feeding boxes are planned to be delivered to each producer, it was reported that 120 producer families operating in the Köyceğiz district will benefit from the supports.
