Gökova Sesame Registered
Gökova Sesame, grown in the Ula district of Muğla and its surroundings, has been registered with a geographical indication by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.
The geographical indication registration process of Gökova Sesame was completed through studies led by the Muğla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MUTSO) and the Ula Municipality.
Within the scope of the registration obtained on May 7, Akyaka, Akçapınar, Ataköy in the Gökova Basin and the surrounding neighborhoods were included within the geographical boundary.
It is stated that the region's climatic conditions and soil structure give the product a unique aroma and quality, while the geographical indication registration is expected to provide economic benefits to producers and support the preservation of local agricultural values.
Officials stated that by increasing promotional activities for geographically indicated products, it is aimed for Gökova Sesame to find a greater place in national and international markets.
