Underwater Cleaning Done at Göcek Public Beach
Underwater cleaning was done at Göcek Public Beach; mooring buoys, chains, concrete blocks, and metal wastes were removed to make the swimming area safe.
Comprehensive underwater cleaning was conducted at Göcek Public Beach to ensure citizens can swim in a safe and clean environment. Mooring buoys, chains, concrete blocks, and metal wastes on the sea floor were removed during the operation.
The cleaning operation at Göcek Public Beach, operated by Coastal Management and Environmental Protection Inc. affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, was completed.
After the boats irregularly moored around the beach area were cleared, a new swimming area was designated for public use. Professional diver teams cooperated with cranes positioned on land to make the swimming area safe.
Hazardous elements on the sea floor removed
During the operation, heavy mooring buoys, boat mooring chains, concrete blocks, and various metal wastes located on the sea floor were individually detected by divers.
Diver teams examined the sea floor in detail using underwater visibility and sonar-assisted scanning methods. The identified heavy materials were carefully removed from the sea with the help of cranes.
After hours of work, it was stated that hazards posing risks to citizens within the swimming lanes were eliminated.
Contribution to the marine ecosystem
In addition to minimizing safety risks for citizens swimming in the sea, the cleaning operation aimed to reduce visual pollution and ecological pressure on the sea floor.
Coastal Management and Environmental Protection Inc. announced that safety and environmental organization efforts on public beaches will continue in the upcoming period.
It was indicated that Göcek Public Beach is open free of charge to the public.
