Problems of the Real Estate and Property Sector Discussed at FTSO

The meeting held at the FTSO Meğri Meeting Hall, hosted by FTSO Chairman Osman Çıralı, was attended by Muğla Real Estate Agents Tradesmen Chamber President Ziya Ercan, Vice President Ömer Yetgin, Fethiye Real Estate Agents Association President Serdar Oğuz, FTSO Board of Directors, Assembly and Professional Committee members, and numerous representatives active in the real estate and property sector.

In his opening speech, FTSO Chairman Osman Çıralı expressed his sadness over the recent forest fires in Göcek, Seydikemer, Üzümlü, Antalya, and other regions of the country and thanked the Forest Organization, firefighting teams, municipalities, security forces, volunteers, and citizens who worked devotedly to control the fires.

Highlighting that the meeting created an important consultation platform for the sector, Chairman Çıralı drew attention to the strategic position of the real estate and property sector for the regional economy.
"The real estate sector has been changing very rapidly in recent years. New regulations are coming, digitalization is accelerating, and expectations are evolving. I believe it is very valuable for all stakeholders of our sector to come together around the same table." said Çıralı, stating that FTSO regularly holds consultation meetings with sector representatives but aimed this time to hold a broader evaluation meeting with veteran names of the sector.

Çıralı: “Our Aim is to Produce Solutions to the Problems”

Çıralı stated that the aim of the meeting was not only to identify problems: "Today, we gathered to listen to our sector. You know the problems experienced in the field best. We want to hear directly from you about the difficulties you are facing, issues awaiting solutions, and your expectations. We are looking together for answers not only to the question ‘What are we experiencing?’ but also ‘How do we solve these problems?’, ‘How do we make our sector stronger, more reliable, and more sustainable?’"

Çıralı expressed that FTSO sees it as an important responsibility to convey the demands from members to relevant institutions and to follow up on solution processes, and he stated that the opinions and suggestions raised at the meeting would significantly contribute to future work.

Ziya Ercan: “Regulations Should Not Be Made Without Consulting the Sector”

Muğla Real Estate Agents Tradesmen Chamber President Ziya Ercan emphasized in his speech that they work in cooperation with chambers and civil society organizations across Muğla and stressed that the opinions of professional organizations must be obtained when preparing legal regulations related to the sector. Ercan shared that the decrease in sales, unregistered activities conducted via social media, and unauthorized persons acting as real estate agents are among the most significant problems of the sector.

Yetgin: “There is a Need for a Comprehensive Real Estate Law”

Muğla Real Estate Agents Tradesmen Chamber Vice President Ömer Yetgin noted that although there are many regulations concerning the real estate sector, a comprehensive legal infrastructure regulating the sector in an integrated manner has not yet been established.

Yetgin stated the importance of implementing a comprehensive real estate law for the healthy development of the sector and to address problems in practice.

Serdar Oğuz: “We Have Authorization Certificate But No Authority”

Fethiye Real Estate Agents Association President Serdar Oğuz drew attention to the problems experienced in practice despite the issuance of authorization certificates to real estate agents.

Sector representatives also took the floor at the meeting to express the problems they encounter during their activities, their expectations, and solution proposals. There was consensus on conveying the sector’s problems to relevant institutions and closely monitoring the solution processes.
