"WE AIM TO CONTRIBUTE TO BOTH THEIR PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT"

Fethiye District Director of Youth and Sports Harun Yiğit said in his opening speech, “The work carried out throughout the year in summer sports schools will continue uninterruptedly during the summer period as well. In line with the mission of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we aim to contribute to the physical and social development of children. As the District Directorate, we continue our efforts throughout 12 months in the summer and winter periods to prepare our youth physically and mentally for life and to support the knowledge they have gained at school. We also aim to contribute to our children’s future with cultural and social activities at our Youth Center. In this summer period, we will strive to raise smart, agile, and moral individuals with our total of 18 coaches in 12 branches. We hope that at the end of summer our children will continue their sports happily,” he said.

"SPORT IS A HABIT THAT SHOULD BE MAINTAINED THROUGHOUT LIFE"

Fethiye District Director of Youth and Sports Yiğit said, “Sport is a habit that must be maintained throughout life. Today, there might be children meeting sports for the first time. You might become champions in Turkey, Europe, or the world in the future. But remember this: Make sure sports is part of your life at some point. Let sport always have a place in your life. There is a wrong perception in our society that sports negatively affects school performance. Scientifically, the opposite has been proven. Sport is an important activity that positively contributes both to the development of our children and their academic success,” he said.

"OUR MINISTRY CREATED AN ARMY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS"

Thanking the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Fethiye District Governor Fatih Akkaya said in his speech, “In past years, the opportunities for doing sports were quite limited. At the point we have reached today, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has made major investments.

Let me give an example from my own youth years. We went through times when there were no sports halls and facilities. I also tried to do sports. Forget the facilities; we used to spend half a day just to find the official who holds the key to open a makeshift building, let alone an indoor sports hall, a grass field, an artificial turf field, or a tennis court,” he said.

Continuing his speech, Governor Akkaya said, “In the past, there was not even personnel available to carry out sports activities. But today, we face a completely different picture. Our Ministry of Youth and Sports has taken one of the most important steps in this country in the last 6-8 years. An extraordinary army of youth and sports has been formed throughout Anatolia. There are people working so that our children can do sports. Seeing our children in the halls and young people doing sports makes me very happy as a local administrative official,” he added.
